I am a homebody<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I am very happy to be one, honestly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when I looked up the definition I felt a bit.. insulted? Let\u2019s have a look<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okay, maybe \u2018insulted\u2019 isn\u2019t the right word. But the term \u2018unadventurous\u2019 makes it sound like homebodies are perceived as boring<\/strong>. And I don\u2019t think I am boring! Nor are my fellow homebodies in my circle of friends. On the contrary \u2013 I feel like we have so much fun<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I like adventure, thank you very much<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I want to make this right. Let\u2019s discuss what really<\/em> makes a homebody. And why it\u2019s awesome to be one of us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does it really mean to be a Homebody?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Being a homebody means that you enjoy the comforts of home. Your house is your sanctuary and every minute spent there feels like a win. That\u2019s literally it<\/em>. Homebodies like being at home<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the misconceptions are endless!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No, a homebody isn\u2019t boring or isolated. Nah, we are not anti-social or unadventurous<\/em>. And heck no, I am not a hermit! Having a certain preference of surroundings doesn\u2019t automatically make one a weirdo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But you know what I am? I am an introvert<\/strong> and a perfectionist<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homebody definition. The meaning behind the word.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As an introverted individual<\/em>, I need to recharge often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love going places, traveling, doing fun things and days out! But I just need some me-time afterwards. And home is the best place to do that. It\u2019s also a safe space, where you can be yourself unapologetically. I like that<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And as a perfectionist, I like to get stuff done and organised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I am at home I have the time and freedom to do the things that have been on my mind. I live by making to-do lists and at home I can tick off everything in no time! And afterwards I get to cozy up on the couch with a blanket and a good book or TV show. That is the best feeling in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So let\u2019s form a new official definition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOMEBODY<\/strong>
\/\u02c8h\u0259\u028amb\u0252di\/
noun<\/em>\u00a0INFORMAL \u2022 NORTH AMERICAN<\/mark>

a person whose home is the coziest place on earth, who loves working and doing things from home and who is warm and welcoming to their friends that understand and respect their boundaries without judging.

\u201cI enjoy weekends spent in my pyjamas catching up with my favourite TV series like a true homebody\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I truly believe that this counts for the majority of the homebody folk. We love having friends over, going to fun places and exploring nature. But we also love changing up our interior every season, scents that remind us of home, Netflix marathons, being surrounded by pets, quality me-time, escaping reality by getting lost in a book or movie, napping, getting organised, collecting scented candles, texting, homemade meals, complete silence and ordering things online (and receiving them after a long wait!<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we will pick a night in over a night out, always<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
